Supersede a Lesson

Replace an older lesson with a new, reviewed version without silently changing the old slides.

What supersede means

Supersede means that a newer approved lesson replaces an older version. It is different from correcting a title or thumbnail.

The old lesson remains archived. Learners who saved it can open the approved newer version from it.

Create the replacement

  1. Open your lessons in Create. If the old lesson is live, archive it first. Read the confirmation before proceeding.
  2. Find the lesson in the archived list, swipe its row, and choose New lesson.
  3. Confirm Create draft. Complete and check the replacement in the lesson builder.
  4. Submit the replacement for review. Creating a draft does not publish it or make it the approved replacement.
  5. Wait for approval. If changes are requested, correct the replacement draft and resubmit.
The old lesson stays archived while you prepare the replacement. Plan for that interruption before archiving a lesson people are using.

An existing replacement or a missing action

If a replacement draft already exists, continue that draft rather than starting another version. A replacement under review must finish review or be withdrawn before editing.

An old version with a newer live replacement stays archived. Restore is not a way to undo an approved replacement.

Not every archived lesson can be restored. Read the restriction shown in the content list and contact support if you need help.
